June is National Safety Month

While we know you are always looking to be safe in your business, since it is National Safety Month, we wanted to share some ideas for ways you can stay safe at home, work and in your community.

These are simple ways you can help a lot of people, not just your own family.

  • Report repairs as they are needed – if you see something at work, on a job site, at home or in the community that needs some attention, if you can’t fix it yourself be sure to report it to the appropriate person that can take care of it efficiently and correctly.
  • Hold drills at home to help children know what to do in the event of a fire, tornado, medical emergency, or other natural disasters.
  • Volunteer to help in the community when they need support in keeping the area safe.
  • Put together a first aid kit – You will want a few of these. You should have one at home, at work and in your car.
  • Take a CPR class – According to the American Red Cross, more than 1,600 people suffer from cardiac arrest each day in the U.S. Knowing CPR and how to use an AED could save someone’s life. Other people knowing these skills could someday save your own life. You can sign up for classes through the Red Cross.
  • Teach someone to change a tire properly and safely – this is important especially for new drivers.
  • Know how to properly store and dispose of medications.
  • Take a defensive driving course – this could get you a lower rate on your auto insurance also at times.
  • Learn how to identify hazards in a home so you can fix them or secure them and avoid any incidents.

These are some great ways you can stay safe in all different places you are at and keep others safe as well.
